Decorating with
Stained Glass
Stained
glass makes a wonderful addition to any home.
It is bright and colorful, and it has the
ability to change the feel of a room or set the
tone. Stained glass comes in many forms that
can be used for decorating a home, such as
windows, cabinet door inserts, lamps, decorative
accents and more. With a little thought and a
touch of imagination you can spice up your home
with a bit of stained glass.
The most
dramatic stained glass piece is obviously the
window. Regardless of the size used, stained
glass windows have the ability to set the tone
for a room. If your daughter loves dolphins why
not add a stained glass window to her room
featuring the adorable creatures? Why stop
there when you can then paint the room to
coordinate with the window. The possibilities
are endless. Whatever theme you are trying to
create, a stained glass window is a quick and
easy way to set the stage.
For a less
dramatic change you may wish to perk up your
kitchen with stained glass inserts in a couple
of your upper cabinets. Not only will it add
drama and flare to your kitchen, but if you
backlight the glass, you’ll be sending out
little beams of colored light that will dance
throughout the room.
Add a touch
of class and elegance to any room with a stained
glass lamp. Originally made popular by the work
of Louis Comfort Tiffany, stained glass lamps
have always been a symbol of prosperity and high
class.
Create drama
and color with a strategically placed sun
catcher. Start a collection and brighten up any
room when rays of sunlight sparkle through the
brilliantly colored glass.
Add interest
to any table, shelf or counter top with a simple
stained glass figurine. Do you collect
butterflies, angel or crosses? You can usually
find these objects done in stained glass along
with countless other figures.
Use holiday
inspired stained glass pieces to reflect the
season. A stained glass holly wreath in the
front window will spread holiday cheer and can
easily be replaced with a heart-shaped sun
catcher to celebrate Valentine’s Day. With a
cross for Easter and a pumpkin for Halloween,
you’ll be set for year-round celebrations.
So get out
there, look around and see how you can
incorporate gorgeous pieces of stained glass
into your home.
